Olga Bay was discovered in 1859 by the Russian corvette Amerika and named after Saint Olga. It is a part of the very large Kronotskiy Reserve, which also includes the world-famous Valley of the Geysers. We were hiking In the area around Olga Bay and saw Grey Whales and the rising volcanoes in the background.Biologists organized an identification of all located there Gray Whales by using of molecular genetic markers.They also study the use of those markers for the study of predispositions to various diseases, such as Alzheimer.
