From the Ashes of Yesterday

by W.F. Manchester

Preface:  “I would not exchange the sorrows of my heart for the joys of the multitude.  And I could not have the tears that sadness makes to flow from my every part turn into laughter.  I would that my life remain a tear and a smile….”  Kahlil Gibran, “A Tear and a Smile.”
"I dedicated this album to my soul-mate,
a young woman of 24, who was struck by a car
and died after we had been together for only a year;
that was in January 1973.
These poems are among of many written
in the wake of that tragedy."
